Hannah Dairy Research Foundation Conference 2026

This is the eighth Conference in the Next Generation Dairying series, funded by the Hannah Dairy Research Foundation. The theme for this year’s Conference is ‘Responsible Dairying’ and will showcase research that addresses the challenges facing dairying and focus on dairy farming’s responsibilities to provide high quality nutrition, whilst acting as environmental custodians.  Additional responsibilities to animals, local economies, rural lifestyles and consumers will also be addressed.

Eminent international speakers will address different aspects of Responsible Dairying, and the challenges that arise. One of the speakers announced is Professor Mizeck Chagunda, Director of the Centre for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health at the Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh, who will discuss global responsibility issues.

In addition to the Scientific Sessions on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning there is a pre-Conference research session organised by the Journal of Dairy Research and a post-Conference visit to the SRUC Greenshed Project nearby.

Funded by the Hannah Dairy Research Foundation and supported by the Journal of Dairy Research, Next Generation Dairying Workshops and Conferences stimulate dairy-related research in Scotland and connect researchers and industry globally.

The Conference is free to attend in person (recommended) or virtually online. The Conference Dinner on the Monday evening is at a cost of £25 and will feature a gourmet four-course meal with wine and an after-dinner “Fireside Chat” with an eminent guest.
