Midlothian’s Ambitious Plans for Inclusive & Sustainable Economic Growth
Midlothian councillors have approved two key documents that set out the Midlothian Council Economic Development Service‘s roadmap for delivering inclusive and sustainable economic growth over the next two years.
How we will meet our goals
The Economic Strategy Delivery Plan 2025–2027 and the Community Wealth Building (CWB) Progress Report & Action Plan 2025–2027 outline how we will meet the goals of the Midlothian Strategy for Inclusive Economic Growth 2025–2030.
What our focus will be
The plans focus on boosting local skills, jobs, and business opportunities, with a strong emphasis on green growth, entrepreneurship, and revitalising town centres. They also aim to keep more local spending within Midlothian and make better use of local assets for the benefit of all residents.
New group created
To ensure joined-up working, a new council-wide group will be created to help departments collaborate on CWB actions.
Inclusive & Sustainable Economic Growth
“This plan is about building a stronger, fairer local economy where the benefits of growth are shared widely. From improving skills and jobs to supporting town centres and tackling climate change, we’re committed to a Midlothian that works for everyone.”
Wellbeing economy
“These efforts are part of the council’s wider shift towards a wellbeing economy—one that supports people, place, and planet now and into the future.”
